Expanding Access to Higher Education
Governor Davis has set out to make a college education more accessible and affordable than ever before. The Davis Administration created:
- The nation's largest state financial aid program.
- The "Four-Percent" admissions program now ensures admission at a UC school for the top students at every high school in California.
UC Institutes
In his 2000 State of the State Address, Governor Davis proposed one of the most ambitious scientific research proposals ever undertaken by a state. He established four world-class research and innovation centers - supported by nine UC campuses - to expand California's role at the cutting edge of technological invention.
